An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.2.3(c), 2.3.1(a) Pseudocode

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

The 9th and final resource to conclude this revision series is the longest one despite not having any examples in this version. There's a lot of stuff to know since you need pseudocode for both exams, but if you go through it step by step it's actually not that hard.

The key, as with all the topics in this revision series, is to practice, practice, practice. There's loads of questions in the exam papers available in not only this spec, but the old H047/H447 one as well.

Hope this helps!

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.2.4(e), 2.2.1(f) OOP

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

Here's resource # 8 of my new revision series (not really sure it merits the word "new" anymore but anyways). Despite there being loads of past paper questions on this topic, I decided against including adapted versions of them as examples in this iteration.

The same goes for the pseudocode resource which I will share tomorrow InShaAllah. Remember to download these for the best viewing experience on PowerPoint. That's all for now.

Hope this helps!

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.3.4(a) JS

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

The 7th resource of my new revision series covers JavaScript and unlike the other ones, this doesn't have any examples (at least until the next iteration) since there are no past paper questions on JavaScript yet.

Anyway, learning the content itself should be pretty straightforward and should help you tackle any questions that come up. Just think of it as pseudocode with a bit of difference in syntax to remember.

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.3.4(a) CSS

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

Here's resource #6 if my memory serves of my new revision series which covers CSS. As a said before in one of my other posts regarding these resources, as more past papers become available i'll update these to include more worked examples.

Anyways, remember to download and view these (and pretty much all my other resources that are presentations) on PowerPoint since they're not formatted correctly on Drive and some other apps.

Hope this helps!

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.3.4(a) HTML

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

I was initially tempted to do all the guides on the web technologies (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) section as one resource since they're all mapping to spec point 1.3.4(a), but then I decided to just alter the names for each of my resources in this series to include the names of topics they cover alongside the point of the specification.

Anyway, I've finished all 3 guides for the web technologies section so it's just a matter of posting them now. There's only the last 2 resources left to make on Pseudocode and OOP which coincidentally, are going to be the longest ones because there's a bit more technical stuff to them than with the other guides.

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.4.3

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

The 4th resource of my new revision series is on Boolean Algebra and covers pretty much the whole of section 1.4.3 of the specification. This one has 10 examples adapted from exam questions with a bit of theory at the beginning.

I didn't focus too much on the content since my other resource on Boolean Algebra covers pretty much everything you need to know in detail so be sure to check that out as well here

Yet Another Link To An OCR A Level Computer Science Resource For Component 1

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

After struggling in vain to get the next resource for my new revision series out in time for today's post I decided to just link another decent resource for only 3 quid. It only covers Component 1 but hey, it's better than nothing.

Realistically speaking, the last 6 resources of my revision series should be done before the end of this month. They're taking a little longer to make than anticipated and I don't want to rush them so you're just going to have to wait. The next one is on Boolean Algebra which should be out next week InShaAllah.

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.3.2(d)

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

Here's the third resource of my new revision series which covers SQL. I should've mentioned this in my first post of this series but you're going to have to download these presentations to view them properly.

On Google Drive, or any other app that I've tried for that matter except PowerPoint, some of the content doesn't show up and some of it isn't formatted correctly so for the optimal viewing experience, just use PowerPoint. Anyway, That's 3 done and only 6 to go!

A Link To An OCR A Level Computer Science Textbook For Component 1

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

Was going to post the SQL guide for my revision series but decided to share that tomorrow InShaAllah. Anyway, I can't really give a review on this resource like I have with others on this blog since I've never used it but i'm told it's really good and at £12.50 I must admit it's not too expensive either.

You can check out a preview if you're not sure (although the preview shows very little) but anyways, I just wanted to get the word out.

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.3.2(a)

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

Turns out I could've got this ready for yesterday's post after all had I not given up so easily. Anyway, I've decided (for the initial versions) to just focus on delivering the technical knowledge needed to do these questions with only a handful of examples and in "version 2.0" I'll add more worked examples to each resource InShaAllah.

I'm just about done with the SQL resource for this series as well but you'll have to wait till next week for that (although the more intuitive among you may have realised once I complete a resource I upload it to the shared Drive folder with all my other resources so you can access it there beforehand).

Official OCR Textbooks & Endorsed Resources

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

After conceding defeat to getting today's resource for my revision series ready in time, I've decided to share some resources that OCR have endorsed instead. I think it's just taking some time for me to get to grips with how I really want these resources structured.

On one hand, I want to fill them up with loads of worked examples but then I realised that's not really a pragmatic approach (for now at least). I still intend to continue my new revision series but I think I'll start by making the resources relatively short and then in the next iteration make them longer InShaAllah.

Anyways, back to today's post. I've already said a couple of times in my posts that I don't get how some resources get endorsed since they're not very good. I've seen a lot of free resources and ones that aren't endorsed that are much better than the ones that are.

Anyway, I digress. All the endorsed resources by OCR (in case you're interested) can be found on their website here.

Hope this helps!

An OCR A Level Computer Science Guide That Might Just Save Your Life 1.2.4(c)

As Salamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh World!

Here's the first of 9 resources of my new revision series. I realise I didn't give a lot of info on what this series is about when I first announced the idea so here goes. This revision series covers what I like to call the "technical" part of the specification.

None of the content that will feature in these resources will be theoretical since I've already covered the entire theoretical part in my other revision series with 21 resources called The Most Detailed Yet Concise Summary Of OCR A Level Computer Science which you can check out here

Anyway, the way I try to structure these resource is by first summarising all the technical stuff you need to know from the spec which in this case is all 11 LMC instructions in the instruction set and then give a few worked examples of questions based on past exam papers.

I plan to get the resources for ERDs (entity relationship diagrams) and SQL (structured query language) done for Saturday and Sunday InShaAllah so that's all for now. Just remember to keep practicing these technical topics to get good at them. In the case of LMC, you can always check out this CPU simulator to try and run assembly code programs you write using this instruction set.
